Update on Helene Fuld Medical Center termination


Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey has agreed to extend its hospital agreement with Helene Fuld Medical Center through August 15, 2009. Beginning 12:01 a.m., August 16, 2009, Helene Fuld Medical Center will no longer be a participating hospital for NJ DIRECT and NJ PLUS (State Health Benefits Program) members.

We encourage NJ DIRECT and NJ PLUS members to use area hospitals in the Horizon Hospital Network to maximize their benefits and minimize their out-of-pocket costs. We want NJ DIRECT and NJ PLUS members to avoid potential additional costs as a result of Helene Fuld Medical Center no longer being a participating hospital.

Members may also search for hospitals participating in the Horizon Hospital Network by using the Provider Directory search tool on this Web site.

Members should not receive a bill (aside from any copayment, deductible and/or coinsurance or other member liability as shown on their Explanation of Benefits) from Helene Fuld Medical Center for any covered services received on or prior to August 15, 2009. If members receive a bill or have any questions, they can call Horizon BCBSNJ Member Services at
1-800-414-SHBP (7427).

As always, in an emergency situation, members should go immediately to the nearest emergency facility, without worrying about network affiliations, to receive care. Members are encouraged to contact their physician as soon as possible after receiving emergency services to coordinate follow-up care.
